NYS DBL/PFL

New York State Disability Benefits Law (DBL) and Paid Family Leave (PFL) provide critical support to employees. DBL offers temporary cash benefits to eligible employees unable to work due to a non-job-related illness or injury, including pregnancy-related conditions.

PFL, on the other hand, grants employees time off to bond with a new child, care for a family member with a serious health condition, or assist loved ones when a family member is deployed abroad on active military service. Employees receive a percentage of their average weekly wage during PFL, with job protection ensuring they can return to their position or a comparable one.

Both programs reflect New York’s commitment to supporting workers’ health and family needs, fostering a more balanced and humane work environment.
